RAFA BENITEZ: LIVERPOOL WILL FINISH IN TOP FOUR

ABOVE: Rafa Benitez: Liverpool will finish in top four
22nd November 2009

By Paul Hetherington

THE pressure mounted on Rafa Benitez last night- but he insisted Liverpool can still finish in the Premier League's top four.

A 2-2 home draw against Man City means they have won only one of their last ten matches.

They now have vital games in Hungary against Debrecen in the Champions League on Tuesday – then the Mersey derby at Everton on Sunday.

Liverpool are on the verge of going out of Europe and are off the title pace.

But defi ant boss Benitez insisted: “If we play to our level we will be in the top four.

“When players come back from injury I think we will start winning games.

“We lost Glen Johnson just before the match through injury, then Daniel Agger, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun were all injured during the game.

“It was a match which was very important to win but the fans and the team kept going.

“You can’t be happy when you draw at home but we showed great character to come back and equalise.

“We started badly through injuries. But we were still pushing at the end and I felt we could have won it.”
