ELLIE GOULDING TUNES INTO PAST

NEW chart princess Ellie Goulding is riding high at No 1 with her first album but her boyfriend can’t stand hearing her songs about other blokes.

The Hereford lass, 23, who has made one of the prettiest records of the year in Lights, admits: “I like delving into things but he doesn’t.”

With 10 tracks about lurve and stuff, the songbird is stuck between entertaining her new legion of fans and keeping her man happy. 

Ellie said: “I find it hard being in a relationship for a number of reasons.

“When writing I always feel I am searching for permanence all the time; something which makes me understand or makes me angry.

“When I am happy I don’t feel content, I get unsettled and feel there should be something which is pushing me on. My boyfriend is from Ireland and I hardly ever see him.

“He finds some of my music difficult as he doesn’t like my songs when I am singing about someone else.

“I have had boyfriends in the past who have criticised my songs and were a bit weird about it.

“Luckily, the guy I am seeing at the moment – although no-one knows about him – is just about OK with it. He just doesn’t listen to too many of them.”

Ellie’s tunes are going to be impossible to avoid, since nabbing the BRITs Critics Choice 2010 award her music has been thrust into the spotlight.
